Description: COVID brought inequities to the forefront of discussions about health. As such, we were able to obtain funding to address inequities related to COVID/flu vaccinations. We are a supportive housing and shelter organizations, and our program (On Point) trained a cohort of our residents (BIPOC individuals with histories of long-term homelessness, facing mental health challenges, chronic health conditions, ongoing substance use and marginalization from mainstream services) to conduct outreach education and promotion of vaccinations among their neighbors in our building sites. In 4 months, this group was able to double the vaccination rates among our residents. This program has won national recognition, being awarded the National Health Equity and Access Champion Award by the National Immunization and Influenza Summit.
