The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), looks forward to welcoming you to the Healthy Equity and Overdose Prevention Symposium on July 10, 2023 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado.

The Symposium is the capstone of NACCHO’s Health Equity and Overdose Prevention Mentorship Project, which has brought together 13 local health departments from around the country to learn from peers, share experiences, and exchange strategies for integrating health equity into drug overdose prevention and response work.

The Symposium is a chance for the grantees to share their program and jurisdiction successes, challenges, and lessons learned; network with one another, and engage with new public health thought leaders to learn and discuss best practices and strategies for embedding equity into overdose prevention and response initiatives.

NACCHO has partnered with the Pretrial Justice Institute (PJI) to plan the Symposium. Together we hope that all participants have an educational and energizing day that celebrates the work that has been done to-date and serves as a jumping off point for next steps beyond this project.

This program and symposium were developed with funding from the Centers for Disease Control.

In addition, NACCHO would like to acknowledge and thank our mentors and mentees for their health equity efforts, each of our speakers for their workshop contributions as well as our partners at the Faces & Voices of Recovery, the Legal Action Center, the National Overdose Prevention Network, and the Pretrial Justice Institute for their input and collaboration on this event.
