A new resource and discussion guide for public health leaders on short- and long-term strategies to prevent and manage a potential surge in fall and winter respiratory illness has been released by the National Associations Respiratory Virus Workgroup. The workgroup, which is composed of the Association of Immunization Managers, ASTHO (Association of State and Territorial Health Officials), Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), Big Cities Health Coalition, Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, and National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), created the guide for public health leaders to use when meeting with leaders of healthcare systems and assessing healthcare capacity.
