Breastfeeding Continuity of Care

For the first time, CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity (DNPAO) released county-level breastfeeding initiation rates and related maps using birth certificate data from the 2018–2019 National Vital Statistics System. These rates can be used to celebrate strengths and to identify locations that may benefit from focused interventions. Community-level strategies to support breastfeeding can focus on populations facing barriers that lead to low rates of breastfeeding.
