Breastfeeding Continuity of Care

In the Spring of 2021, East Side Health District (ESHD), IL, was selected as a grantee for NACCHO’s Identifying Care Gaps: Conducting Community Assessments to Improve the Chest/Breastfeeding Landscape in Historically Oppressed Communities. They partnered with the local federally qualified health center, the Healthy Start program, the Edwardsville Region Breastfeeding Taskforce, and undergraduate student volunteers. They conducted a three-part community lactation assessment to identify gaps in lactation support to increase access to and inform opportunities to improve the local lactation support landscape for their community.
