Join CDC's Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) on May 6, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 PM ET, for a presentation and discussion of a pilot of new local epidemic trend estimates for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV. Epidemic trend is an indicator of transmission based on data from incident emergency department visits. The epidemic trend tells us whether transmission is growing, declining, or not changing, and is a tool to help public health practitioners prepare and respond. Epidemic trends for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV are publicly available at the national and state levels during respiratory virus season. Now, sub-state epidemic trends, by health service area (HSA), are being piloted for our public health partners to improve local situational awareness. Public release of sub-state epidemic trends for COVID-19 is planned for early this summer.
