In late July, the Public Health Informatics Institute (PHII) launched the Data Governance for Public Health e-learning tool! This guide was designed to provide an interactive learning opportunity based on the content delivered at the data governance boot camp held in the spring.

While initially developed through the lens of data modernization, the principles and tools in this guide can be applied more broadly to data governance projects throughout public health. This new guide aims to address the following questions:

    • What do you need to do to organize a data governance project--including the steps, people, policies and technology?
    • How do you get started?
    • Who should be involved?
    • How can you address legal and policy considerations related to data governance?
    • Why is all of this vital to public health in general and data modernization in particular?

This tool is publicly available and can be found here: https://phii.org/data-modernization-initiative/data-governance-for-public-health/

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the PHII Learning Community Team at datamodlearning@taskforce.org. Thank you for your continued participation in the DMI Learning Community!
