Attendees for NACCHO's September 2023 LLN call had the opportunity to learn about immunization uptake among facility staff/healthcare workers (HCWs) as infection prevention and a way to maintain a healthy workplace environment for all.
Immunization is one of the core strategies used to prevent the spread of infectious disease. HCWs are often at risk of encountering infected patients or materials in their environment and can be exposed to or transmit vaccine-preventable diseases. Local health departments can work with healthcare facility staff to promote HCW immunization and keep informed about current priorities and practices related to immunization.
Dr. Janet Glowicz (CDC) shared important information about vaccinations including current immunization priorities among healthcare workers and best practices to encourage uptake and keep both HCWs and their patients safe from vaccine-preventable diseases.
