The Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council - Cyber Working Group is collecting information on public health processes to map identify dependency systems in critical Public Health Functions.
Attached, and imaged below is a draft of the Public Health Surveillance Map. Please provide feedback on this map to include missing systems, agencies, or other elements. See this narrative to describe the map. Public Health Surveillance is the use of hospital charts and discharge data to generate epidemiological reports. These reports include Flu and respiratory disease reports.
Narrative of chart: A patient generates medical information with the healthcare facility. This healthcare facility then reports the medical chart from the electronic medical record system through a connection with an electronic public health data system. This data is then used by public health departments to generate reports. This data is also sent to the CDC for national Health Statistics.
