NACCHO, with support from CDC's Project Firstline, is pleased to announce two new self-paced online courses designed for local health department (LHD) staff who train healthcare facilities on infection prevention and control (IPC). The first course covers foundational IPC concepts, and the second delves into advanced IPC strategies and effective techniques for training adult learners engaged in IPC work. More detailed course descriptions can be found below:
- Adult Learning Principles: This course explores best practices with training planning and facilitation, training and learning modalities, audience analysis, and evaluation, with a specific focus on adult learners. This course is intended for LHD staff training healthcare facility staff in infection prevention and control (IPC). The course complements the IPC fundamentals series and is meant to support LHD staff in utilizing resources from Project Firstline.
- IPC Fundamentals: This course aims to provide an introduction into the foundational concepts of IPC that are essential for preventing and controlling infectious diseases in various healthcare settings. Topics include the various types of infectious agents, elements of transmission, bodily germ reservoirs, and environmental germ reservoirs. This course is intended for LHD staff new to IPC work or those who need a refresher. The focus of this course is on building foundational knowledge to be able to train healthcare facility staff, rather than on assessing IPC practices.
Note for previous NACCHO University users: when NACCHO migrated from our old learning system, any learner who had previous data was added in a suspended state to ensure they did not receive test emails.
