    NACCHO, in partnership with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), has published new Chemical Preparedness Tabletop Exercise Toolkits designed to assist local health departments (LHDs) in enhancing capability and awareness of their roles and responsibilities during chemical emergencies. There are two toolkits, one designed for large and urban LHDs, and the other designed for small or rural LHDs.

    The tabletop exercise toolkits contain the following documents and resources:

    All resources are modeled after the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) resources. These templates are designed to be a starting point for LHDs to engage in chemical preparedness training. Local health departments are encouraged to modify the templates to fit their jurisdiction's needs, chemical preparedness plans, and relevant structures.
