I suppose it depends on the scale of the release. If our EOC is activated our PIO integrates into the JIS and amplifies messaging distributed through the larger response. Messaging from ESF15, External Affairs goes out through multiple different modalities including: X, the ODM website, ReachWell app (in 100+ different languages), another text messaging platform, press releases, and press conferences. If it's a small release being handled by our PH EM and EH teams we would likely utilize a press release, communications with partners (EMs, hospitals, CBOs, regional LPHAs), social media, media interview requests and potentially ask our ESF15 partners to push messaging out through Everbridge to affected geographical areas.

Subject: Effective Public Messaging in Chemical Emergencies
The Chem Prep Team at NACCHO is developing communication plug and play templates for LHDs to use during a chemical incident so we are interested in knowing how does your LHD communicate chemical spill risks to the public, especially vulnerable populations?
