The House is expected to vote on the second minibus, the Defense and Labor, Health & Human Services (LHHS), and Education (H.R. 6157) next week after the Senate overwhelmingly voted to approve the bill. The bill will also contain a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government through December 7 for the unfinished spending bills. The bill provides an additional $2 billion to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), an increase of $584 million to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and a $126 million increase to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). You can view a summary report of the bill here. The Congress has not passed a LHHS bill before the October 1 deadline since 1996, marking a major achievement. Contact your Members of Congress to let them know you support the passage of the spending bill!------------------------------
