Good morning Chavon,
Thanks so much for your response. These are fantastic ways to center equity and also offer the chance for everyone to get a baseline understanding of what it is. It's wonderful to see how well-attended Equity Hours were! Sounds like something others might want to duplicate.
Thanks again for sharing! Would love to hear from more folks.

Hi Brianna,
Although we are a state health department, we are utilizing NACCHO's Roots of Health Inequity as a training for our Office of Health Equity, as well as another office within our Division of Preparedness. In addition to this training, we are developing Health Equity 101 trainings to be offered beginning in October by our Office of Health Equity Leads. We have paired two team members from our office to be health equity leads for each division in our agency. They will be offering this training and providing technical support/assistance to their respective visions as requested. In addition, we have implemented Equity Hours (aka Lunch and Learns) each month at the agency, where we choose a topic to discuss and have opportunity for Q&A. We completed our first lunch and learn this month and had over 100 participants. The equity hour is recorded and then added to our Health Equity section in our weekly Connect following the lunch and learn, so that people who couldn't attend or would like to go back and review, have the opportunity. We are doing all we can to operationalize health equity, including making it a part of the agency strategic plan. I would love to hear what others are doing. This is really tough work!

One example might be staff trainings focused on explaining equity and inequity. NACCHO's Roots of Health Inequity course is a great tool for training; there's even a facilitator's guide!
See more here: http://www.rootsofhealthinequity.org/
If you'd like access to the guide, please let me know.

Good morning, everyone!
I thought this discussion page would be a great place to hear from many of you, no matter your location or size or expertise. NACCHO's Health Equity and Social Justice workgroup just started a new term, where building capacity to advance health equity is a key goal. The workgroup has one overarching question for LHDs: how are you operationalizing health equity? Let's get a discussion going, with emphasis on the before, during and after of the COVID emergency declaration.
Thanks in advance for your responses!
