My name is Ionela Lutai and I am the new MRC Coordinator for Alexandria Health Department.
I earned my Bachelor Degree in Human Services/Psychology and my Master Degree in Public Administration (Emergency and Disaster Management) both from the Metropolitan College of New York. I have numerous certifications in the fields of emergency management and in disaster, psychological and mental health management.
I have considerable experience in volunteer, program and event management. Since 2014, I have been the Emergency Preparedness Manager for Volunteer Alexandria and I have worked with the local OEM to prepare our community for potential emergencies and disasters. I recruited and trained over 300 volunteers through our local volunteer center and did local work such as: raising awareness in the community through public events and speaking engagements, educating our residents on how to prepare for emergencies through speaking engagements and training local volunteers how to run a Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) in case of an activation.
