Welcome to the Early Childhood Nutrition & Breastfeeding Virtual Community!

Welcome, infant and toddler nutrition champions! We are excited to have you join us and collaboratively work together to advance breastfeeding and early childhood nutrition. Initially, this space was dedicated to our regional nutrition security convenings, and we wanted to expand this space to include everyone dedicated to breastfeeding and early childhood nutrition. This virtual community aims to provide those interested in infant and young toddler nutrition and breastfeeding with a space to share resources, collaborate, and learn alongside each other as we implement interventions and improve access to opportunities to access nutrition and breastfeeding resources.

    Meet the Team

Our Breastfeeding and Early Childhood Nutrition team at NACCHO is made up of passionate public health professionals dedicated to providing you with evidence-based resources, helpful tips, and a platform to connect with others who share your commitment to early childhood nutrition and breastfeeding. Our team includes two staff members, Freweyni 'Free' Gemerew and Talei Moore, who will be actively engaging in this space. Talei and Free will guide interesting discussions, answer questions, and help build a supportive and welcoming community for everyone.

  • Register for Reducing Breastfeeding Disparities in the US Southeast Community of Practice!

We are excited to invite your local health department (LHD) to participate in NACCHO’s new Community of Practice (CoP), Reducing Breastfeeding Disparities in the US Southeast. This CoP will prioritize local health departments addressing breastfeeding disparities experienced by African American and non-Hispanic Black families. This CoP aims to strengthen public health breastfeeding support and early childhood nutrition practices by fostering collaboration, encouraging innovation, and elevating communities as leaders and solution developers across the Southeastern region of the United States. By participating in the CoP, LHDs will share best practices, community contexts, innovative solutions, and goals for improving breastfeeding support and nutrition security for young children.

If your LHD is interested in participating in the Reducing Breastfeeding Disparities in the US Southeast Community of Practice, please click here to complete this form.

NACCHO is hosting an upcoming information session to share more details about the Community of Practice on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm ET. To register for the information session, click here. If you are unable to attend the information session and have questions related to the CoP, please feel free to contact our team at breastfeeding@naccho.org.
